based company has been working in the field of renewable
energy for almost two decades, and since 1982 it
has been contributing to Programmes of the European
Commission, the German Fed-eral Programmes for
Research and Technology and to research and development
activities of private entities (utilities, companies,
institutes).
WIP’s main activities
cover the fields of practical deployment of photovoltaic
systems tech-nology, wind energy conversion, water
resources recovery and planning, innovative technolo-gies
for water desalination, the exploitation of biomass
in the generation of electricity, and both active
and passive solar energy applications in the built
environment.
Moreover, WIP is active
as an event organiser in areas which complement its own
RTD ac-tivities. It has been responsible and it

project development & engineering, international
co-operation, and organisation of events on RE development
and application.
The company's
Projects & Engineering division expertise
goes from project and market assessments, over research
and technology development on new RE applications,
to the development and installation of RE plants.
The
International Cooperation division promotes
networking in the renewable energy field, both in
research and development and in commercialisation

.: EUBIA– European Biomass Industry Association
The European
Biomass Industry Association has been established in 1996
and is with 21 Founder Members an industrial association
grouping together: market forces (utilities, oil companies),
technology providers and industry, regional and national
organisations, R&D organisations, education and training
organisations active in the field of bioenergy.
EUBIA is also a founding member of EREC, the European Renewable
Energy Council, which groups together all main European
renewable energy industry and research associations.
The main Areas of Activities are:
- Small scale activities
are carried out to use bioenergy (co-generation, biofuels,
etc.) for decentralized areas, mainly rural development
inside and outside of Europe.
- Industrial schemes: Power generation
plants, biodiesel, bioethanol, biomethanol, hydrogen
plants,... Large-scale integration of bioenergy, bioethanol,
hydrogen, etc. to petrochemicals to improve traditional
transportation fuels (e.g.: a study for China reveals
the best ways to use bioethanol to improve gasoline).
- Other activities include the promotion of education
and training activity in bioenergy, the promotion of
innovative concepts and technologies.

Through its more than
50 members EPIA has access to expertise generally considered
second to none in the field of photovoltaics.
EPIA is an affiliated organisation to the United Nation’s
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). EPIA is
a founding member of EREC (European Renewable Energy Council),
which groups together all main European renewable energy
industry and research associations. It is a frequent advisor
on solar electricity and sustainable development issues
to the World Bank, European Commission, European Parliament,
